TLC Retreats

We offer retreats and resources for couples in full-time ministry.

Common Questions / FAQ

Is the cost of a TLC Retreat really only $200 per couple?

Yes, thanks to generous friends who understand the needs of those in full-time Christian ministry we have been able to charge just a fraction of the total cost of the retreat. The $200 deposit and your travel costs to Wolfeboro are the only expenses that you will have. (Please notify us if you are interested in coming and would find it difficult to cover the $200, we will try and make arrangements for you.)

How many TLC Retreats are offered a year?

We currently offer 2 retreats for couples in New Hampshire…One at peak color season in mid-October and one in late January. We also offer retreats for Wives of Pastors or women in full-time Christian ministry during the summer, and now offer one also for Men in full-time ministry. The individual retreats cost $75 each and are limited to 8 participants.

How many couples take part in a TLC retreat?

We have found that 10-12 couples is an ideal size group. Our primary emphasis is on your relationship as a couple and having quality time alone with God. However, couples find that having time to fellowship with others in ministry is valuable as well.

What are the TLC Retreats like?

The retreats consist of 4 days and 3 nights in Wolfeboro, NH, located on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Our time together begins on a Monday afternoon and ends after lunch on Thursday. The comfortable facilities at Brookwoods Conference Center offer comfortable rooms with private baths. The quiet, secluded atmosphere there supports refreshing times of worship, personal time alone with God in His Word, and healthy times of small group interaction.

Our time together is loosely structured with laughter, good fellowship, and plenty of time for delicious leisurely meals at Brookwoods. Afternoons are available for a wide variety of optional activities created to help couples enjoy this unique and beautiful setting as well as the various seasonal recreational opportunities. Some fall activities that are possible include sailing, boating, and easy walks as well as some moderate hikes. Winter activities may include cross-country skiing, skating, winter walks, and snow tubing.

With what denomination is The Leadership Center affiliated?

The Leadership Center is a non-denominational, non-profit organization that seeks to serve couples in full-time ministry from a wide background of evangelical churches and denominations as well as independent churches.

Who can come?

We welcome any couple in full-time vocational ministry. Those who have attended one of our retreats are considered alumni and are welcome to return with the understanding that they may be asked to defer to a couple who has never been here before. We try to give alumni 6-weeks’ notice if it becomes necessary for them to defer to another date.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate children into our retreats. Couples with children should make arrangements at home to enable them to have this time to focus on God and each other.

This sounds too good to be true! … is there a “catch”?

There is no “catch”; no one will try to sell you a condo! We have no hidden agenda. It is our mission to provide rest and rejunvenation for each couple. We simply realize that pastoral couples need to be cared for in the same manner that you care for your congregation. Extended time alone with God and with your spouse helps to keep relationships fresh and healthy so that you can continue to give the fullness of Christ that He gives to us.
